Memories of My Family
Within the domestic space exists a presence that is often overlooked yet constantly operative—“you.” Rather than maintaining the conventional relationship in which humans use and observe objects, “You” at Home reverses this position, transforming passive objects into active perceivers.
“You” refers to domestic objects, but also to a presence endowed with the capacity to sense and record. Quietly situated within everyday life, “you” witness the flow and transformation of domestic existence, like a pair of observing eyes that register the accumulation of time within space.
Through this conceptual shift, objects are no longer mere carriers of memory, but become witnesses to it. The act of viewing is inverted—from humans observing objects to objects observing humans—raising fundamental questions about perception and subjectivity: within the home, who is truly watching, and who is being recorded?
Thus, “You” at Home is not simply a renaming of objects, but a reconfiguration of the structure of perception. Through anthropomorphic language and visual transformation, objects are granted subjectivity, establishing a conceptual foundation for the subsequent development of Witnesses of My Home and Family View.
